Box

Bespoke cardboard boxes can be manufactured in bulk by many packaging companies for very competitive prices. All too often many companies think they are saving money buying ‘stock boxes’; being those manufactured to  the more popular ‘standard’ sizes. The problem with stock boxes is you always need the next size up as the nature of cardboard means you cannot squash items in which are marginally too small. The problem here is the next size up is often far too big, so the void needs to be filled with foam or polystyrene packaging.

By investing in bespoke cardboard boxes the void fill can be minimised or omitted altogether, meaning the little extra you pay for having boxes manufactured to very specific dimensions will be saved on polystyrene or foam void fill. Obviously a certain amount of packaging may still be necessary for some more fragile items, but keeping this down to a minimum will save money in the long term.

Many specialist packaging companies can also provide bespoke cardboard boxes printed with your company logo and/or details about the product such as photographs, technical specifications, ‘this way up’ or ‘fragile’ warnings; anything you require. Of course this would add to the costs of your packaging materials, but for many manufacturers, sending their products out in bespoke boxes bearing colourful and eye catching graphics is an essential part of their branding.

Companies large and small often have the need for large quantities of cardboard boxes. Regardless of whether these boxes are for shipping out product to customers or shipping parts internally from one part of a company to another a reliable supplier is essential. A good supplier will be able to offer a wide variety of standard size boxes but sometimes the standard size will not do and custom cardboard boxes are required.
When odd shaped or sized merchandise or supplies must be shipped, bespoke boxes are the answer. This is where the difference between a good and an outstanding box company is determined. The very best companies will have excellent design teams available to meet their customer’s packaging needs. The best box designers take into account the outside dimensions that are required as well as any dividers or cushioning that will be needed on the inside. While custom cardboard boxes will cost more than standard sized ones, a discount for ordering in volume should help defray the cost.
In addition to providing expertise concerning how the desired contents of a box will fit and be protected the outstanding box company will also be able to advice on the best ways for stacking the boxes. Being able to stack the loaded boxes on pallets, in a manner designed to ensure safety and minimise potential damage to the contents, is very important. In fact, advice on every aspect of packaging boxes, whether standard or bespoke, as well as their ability to store and transport will be available from the best companies.
With the right company, the addition of a company logo or having the boxes in various colours should be no problem. What is the advantage of different colour cardboard boxes? It makes a company’s product stand out when shipped to clients. Customers appreciate being able to easily identify a company’s boxes. Having the logo on the box helps of course but using specific colours really makes an impression. Companies that ship a number of different items or who produce their own parts to ship and use in another division can colour code the boxes or labels making sorting easier at the receiving end.
Choosing the best company to supply cardboard boxes and then working exclusively with that company will achieve the best results. Although there is the temptation to shop around and look for the best price at any given time, it is better to stick with one company. Bulk ordering and repeat business will supply the lowest cost per unit every time.
